UBA To Donate USD 14 Million To Ghana, Nigeria And Others

” United Bank Of Africa (UBA) has pledged t a donation of $14 million to Ghana, Nigeria and 18 other African countries to help fight corona virus . With the rising cases of coronavirus in Africa, the bank and their Chairman Tony Elumelu the donation can help fight the pandemic by oroviding more resources for managemwnt and treatment. The relief will support will be done through their foundation as well as a free tele medicine platform to provide direct access of medical advice to citizens and doctors. MTN increases daily withdrawals, wallet balance on Mobile Money

MTN Ghana has increased how much cash customers can withdraw from their mobile money wallets on daily basis. The company has also increased the amount of money various categories of customers can hold on their wallet. This is in addition to the free transfers of up to GHC100 daily over the next three months, as directed by the Bank of Ghana as part of measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. A statement from MTN said the implementation of the new incentives approved by the Bank of Ghana is to enable customers to adopt MoMo for financial transactions in order to minimize the risk posed by cash handling. The incentives, which take effect from March 20, 2020, means for those who had daily transaction limit of GHS300 can now transact with an amount of GHS1000, whereas limits of GHS2000 and GHS5000 have been increased to GHS5,000 and GHS10, 000 respectively. It is now free to send GH¢100 and below via mobile money

All mobile money transfers of GH¢100 and below will attract no charges from service providers for the next three months, subject to review, the Bank of Ghana has announced. The new move begins Friday, March 20, 2020. It is part of various measures outlined by telecommunication companies to help support the fight against the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic with the aim to facilitate more efficient payments and promote digital forms of payments, as well as to contain the impact of the Coronavirus on the Ghanaian economy. “The Bank of Ghana has agreed with banks and mobile network operators on measures to facilitate more efficient payments and promote digital forms of payments for the next three months, subject to review, effective March 20, 2020," a statement by the BoG said.
