BA Appoints New Manager for Ghana

British Airways (BA) has announced the appointment of Moran Birger as the new Commercial Manager for its Ghana operations. The British national assumed his role as of 15 October 2013, taking over from James Wooldridge, who is now heading BA’s winter operations at its hub, Heathrow airport’s Terminal 5 (T5).

Birger, a graduate of Business and Politics from the University of Manchester, will oversee British Airways’ business in Ghana, which has been a key market for the airline for over 75 years.

During his two years with British Airways, he has worked actively in a number of roles with the Community Investment, Revenue Management and Operational teams of the company.

Moran Birger led a project to increase the awareness of Flying Start – BA’s charity partnership with Comic relief (a British based charity investing in projects all over the world). He later worked at Heathrow airport in an operational customer facing role during the London 2012 summer Olympics. He also worked in British Airways’ partnership team, where he managed a broad portfolio of European airlines, and was responsible for significant revenue generation in the region.
Birger is “thrilled and enthusiastic” about the timing of his new role. “We have just increased our operation in Ghana from seven to ten flights a week; building on the rich heritage of flying here for over 75 years, and the response from our customers has been overwhelmingly positive,” he said. “Our business travellers are very pleased about the new morning flights, as our network enables them to conveniently connect to other destinations in the USA on the same day.”
Birger says that in celebration of their ten weekly flights, BA Ghana is also offering customers exciting fares to the UK and USA. “World Traveller (Economy class) fares to London start as low as US$410, without taxes, while World Traveller Plus (Premium Economy) fares are at $810 and our Club World (Business Class) fares are as low as US$2,010.”
British Airways passengers to the USA would also enjoy fares as low as US$810 for World Traveller, US$1,210 for World Traveller Plus and US$2,410 in Club World class. All fares are tax exclusive.
Birger also says that for those customers that would like to experience pure luxury at no additional cost, there is a special Business Class to First Class offer (one way upgrade) ongoing.
“In the past couple of years, we’ve offered some of our lowest ever fares, in appreciation of our customers. We plan to continue this trend, as well as continue offering exceptional levels of customer service and innovative products. I am looking forward to working in Ghana to ensure we remain the choice carrier for our customers here.”
