MTN Bright Media Health Walk: We made it

 




MTN Ghana over the weekend organized the second edition of the 'MTN Bright Media Health Walk' for some selected journalists in Accra.

The 5.4 kilometre walk started from the Legon Botanical Gardens through the main campus of the University of Ghana-Legon and back to the starting point.

The event organized by the communications division of MTN Ghana was aimed at improving the lives of the journalists and its staff. It also served as an avenue for the staff and the journalists to bond together.

It was led by MTN Ghana’s Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer, Madam Adwoa Wiafe; and Senior Corporate Communications Manager of MTN Ghana, Georgina Asare-Fiagbenu.

The walk which lasted over two hours again presented the participants with a unique opportunity to actively interact with one another, and renew friendships, through physical exercise, amusement, and refreshment outside their office space.

After the long walk, the journalists and the MTN staff converged at the serene and beautiful Legon Botanical Gardens to stretch and relax their muscles.

The editor of Business Week Ghana, Kofi Ahovi, was part of the four journalists to finish the walk in a tie. he also won the musical chairs competition. 

Historic cycling from Accra to Tamale

Inspiring the participants, the Founder of The Mental Catalyst (TMC), Michael Amankwah also known as Don Miller, used the opportunity to announce that he would be leading a group of four Amateur cyclers to ride bicycles from Ghana’s capital city, Accra to the northern regional capital, Tamale.

The driving distance from Accra to Tamale is 618 kilometres (384 miles), while the cycling distance between the two cities is unknown. However, Mr Amankwah said they would use 11 days to complete the historic cycling journey.

To boost their fitness capacity, he said they had been trained for over four months before they would embark on the journey soon to raise money to support mental health in the country.

Fitness instructor and pharmacist, Mathew Frimpong who led the participants to undertake an aerobics workout session after the marathon health walk, encouraged them to exercise regularly to improve their health and emotional health.

EB-ACCION DISBURSES US$15 MILLION

By Fred SARPONG Ecobank-Accion (EB-Accion), a partnership between Ecobank Ghana Limited and Accion International has disbursed amount to the tune of $15 million to over 36,000 borrowers in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector in the country, since the institution was set up barely six months ago. Amantin & Kasei Community Bank posts impressive growth, with over GH¢1m profit

 Amantin and Kasei Community Bank, at Amantin in the Bono East Region has posted impressive growth in all the performance indicators during 2022 financial year under review. The bank recorded profit after tax of GH¢1,055,662, representing 35.66% more over the 2021 figure of GH¢778.151. This achievement stemmed out of 49.24% gross income growth from GH¢8,143,526 to GH¢12,153,537. Total deposits of the bank went up by 36.20%, changing from GH¢50,959,848 in 2021 to GH¢69,405,591 in 2022. The bank increased loans and advances by 22.15% from GH¢14,128,017 to GH¢17,257,614. Total assets showed an appreciation of 29.32%, amounting to GH¢77,918,288 as against GH¢60,250,693 in the previous year. On the other hand, the bank posted a marginal increase in short term investments portfolio from GH¢24,439,761 to GH¢26,585,698, indicating 8.78% change.
