Sinapi Aba Trust graduates 247 youth under its apprenticeship programme

Sinapi Aba Trust has graduated 247 youth under its flagship Youth Apprenticeship Program (YAP), marking another milestone in its drive to promote youth economic empowerment through skills development.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Chief Executive of Sinapi Aba Trust, Joyce Owusu-Dabo, described the occasion as a significant achievement for the beneficiaries, stressing that the completion of training should be viewed not as an endpoint but as a launchpad to economic opportunity.

She emphasised the organisation’s commitment to transforming lives by equipping vulnerable youth with employable vocational skills aimed at reducing unemployment and curbing social vices.

Let this not be merely an occasion to celebrate; rather, let it be a springboard that propels you to higher heights and greater achievements. You are now equipped; go forth and shape your destinies,” she said.

According to Sinapi Aba Trust, the Youth Apprenticeship Program is designed to provide practical, marketable skills that enable young people to secure sustainable livelihoods and improve their living conditions.

The chairman for the occasion and municipal chief executive for Ga North, Akwetey Agbo, commended Sinapi Aba Trust and similar institutions for their vital contribution to national development.

He noted that empowering young people with skills remains a critical strategy for addressing unemployment and driving inclusive economic growth.

Project Manager, Araba Mosner Ansong, highlighted the impressive trajectory of YAP since its inception, revealing that the programme has now graduated over 5,000 young people, with nearly 1,000 currently undergoing training across various trades.

The Sinapi Aba Trust says it will continue to expand the Youth Apprenticeship Programme to reach more young people, supporting them to become economically independent and contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s development.

The transaction, registered with the Registrar of Companies and approved by the Minerals Commission, ends nearly two decades of under-investment, legal disputes, and capital shortfalls that kept the concessions dormant. With global gold prices trading above $3,000 per ounce, the move comes at a time when Ghana is seeking fresh mining revenue to support its IMF-backed fiscal consolidation programme.
