Raleigh international launches branch in Ghana

Raleigh has launched its first branch in Africa, Raleigh Ghana to developing and inculcating leadership skills in the youth. Raleigh Ghana becomes the first branch in Africa.

The associations would also develop the mental resilience of young volunteers, discover their full potential as well as challenge them to take up responsibilities.

According to the country director, Michael Nmai Maxwell, Raleigh Ghana is to create a new of training and developing young global citizens, inspiring them to be part of an innovative international network of people who cooperate and work together in solving problems and building better sustainable communities and environments.

The country director urged the government to make volunteerism part of the curriculum for all educational institutions as done in other part of the world.

“We believe this will strongly help to revive and revitalize the real national spirit of volunteerism and create a platform for people to get themselves involved in voluntary and local community projects and services,” he added.

The Chief Executive of Raleigh International, Stacy Adams, said the mother organization in UK was excited about the launch of its branch in Ghana to assist local volunteers and the youth to create opportunities to make a difference in the lives of people and communities.

Raleigh Ghana’s mission is to inspire the Ghanaian youth to explore their full potentials through organizing and participating in voluntary projects and programmes held in local communities, main lands and other countries.

Raleigh International is a British based international voluntary and youth development charitable organization committed to giving youth people a chance to explore the world and by doing so discover their potential as leaders and members of a team working together to make a difference in the lives of people and communities with expeditions, services, health and education Raleigh International works across the globe.

The organization was in the country from 1999 to 2006 for developmental voluntary projects with various governmental and non-governmental organizations in all the 10 regions of Ghana

Raleigh international, which is celebrating its 25 anniversary this year, is present in china, Haiti, India and other countries across the world

EB-ACCION DISBURSES US$15 MILLION

By Fred SARPONG Ecobank-Accion (EB-Accion), a partnership between Ecobank Ghana Limited and Accion International has disbursed amount to the tune of $15 million to over 36,000 borrowers in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector in the country, since the institution was set up barely six months ago. Amantin & Kasei Community Bank posts impressive growth, with over GH¢1m profit

 Amantin and Kasei Community Bank, at Amantin in the Bono East Region has posted impressive growth in all the performance indicators during 2022 financial year under review. The bank recorded profit after tax of GH¢1,055,662, representing 35.66% more over the 2021 figure of GH¢778.151. This achievement stemmed out of 49.24% gross income growth from GH¢8,143,526 to GH¢12,153,537. Total deposits of the bank went up by 36.20%, changing from GH¢50,959,848 in 2021 to GH¢69,405,591 in 2022. The bank increased loans and advances by 22.15% from GH¢14,128,017 to GH¢17,257,614. Total assets showed an appreciation of 29.32%, amounting to GH¢77,918,288 as against GH¢60,250,693 in the previous year. On the other hand, the bank posted a marginal increase in short term investments portfolio from GH¢24,439,761 to GH¢26,585,698, indicating 8.78% change.
