BoG postpones Cedi@60 launch over military helicopter tragedy


The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has indefinitely postponed the national launch of the Cedi@60 anniversary celebrations, originally scheduled for Friday, August 8.

This is in light of the tragic loss of five government officials and three Ghana Armed Forces personnel in a helicopter crash on Wednesday.

In a statement, the Central Bank said, “we regret to announce that the launch has been postponed.”

The event was expected to take place at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The Bank extended its sympathies to the bereaved families, stating: “The Bank extends its deepest condolences to His Excellency the President of the Republic, the Government and People of Ghana and the families of the departed.”

It further added: “The Bank appreciates the understanding and cooperation of all its stakeholders and the general public during this period of national mourning.”
