Foreign Affairs Ministry and Parliamentary Committee Strengthen Cooperation to Advance National Interests
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Parliamentary Select Committee on Foreign Affairs have reinforced their collaboration to drive the country's foreign policy objectives, following a constructive dialogue at a retreat held on Monday, 1st December, 2025.
The cooperation between the Ministry and the Select Committee has been remarkable," said Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister for Foreign Affairs, highlighting key accomplishments in 2025, including the launch of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Heads of Mission, establishment of a Delivery Unit, and improvements in passport administration.
Ablakwa mentioned notable achievements such as same-day passport service, 30% reduction in passport fees, and introduction of e-tracking and mobile passport services. He also shared plans for 2026, including the STRIDE Initiative, data centre establishment, and e-visa implementation.
Honourable Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, Chairman of the Select Committee, assured continued collaboration to advance foreign policy objectives, while Honourable Samuel Abu Jinapor emphasized the Ministry's importance in national development.
The Acting Chief Director, Her Excellency Khadija Iddrisu, reaffirmed the Ministry's readiness for open dialogue to strengthen partnership.
The work of the Ministry is crucial to advancing national development," Jinapor said, as the engagement concluded with a shared commitment to deepen institutional collaboration.
