…..but Participants call for more publicity
By Kofi Ahovi
Participants at the just ended Water Africa and West African Building & Construction exhibition and seminar 2009 have called for adequate publicity of future fairs to attract more customers.
According to the participants that Business week spoke to they were of the view that the organizers of the fair should intensify their publicity campaign in future to deepen customers’ appetite in both the building and construction and the water sectors.
The managing director of Edidor Ltd, Charles Quist, in expressing his view of the fair, said he had hoped that more players in the water industry would have turned up at the fair but that was not the case, attributing it to low publicity.
He however added that his company was yet to evaluate the success of the fair based on the feedback from potential clients, saying “it is too early to determine the success of the fair but we are optimistic of expanding our clientele base from this fair.”
He called on the public to take keen interest in such exhibitions, particularly the water fair, because of the importance of water to life and also to keep them abreast with the technological advancement and strides that are being made in treating and making water more accessible and potable to all.
Edidor Ltd, with its partner, Braithwaite engineers- UK, supplies and installs a wide range of Steel and GRP modular tanks, including pipe works and fittings. Braithwaite is an international company with a reputation for technical excellence founded on more than 100 years of experience.
The head of ICT and event coordinator of Duraplast Ltd, Emmanuel Adoonvo, thanked the organizers for the platform, but added that turnout was not as he expected and hoped that it will improve in subsequent ones.
Duraplast is noted for the manufacturing of high quality UPCV and HDPE pipe and fittings for local consumption as well as export.
Water Africa 2009 and West African Building & Construction exhibition and seminar is an international trade exhibition for goods and services for the water and wastewater engineering as well as the building and construction sectors in Africa. The three day fair took place on April 1-3, 2009.
The trade exhibition brought together exhibitors from across Africa.
