West Africa health exhibition for September

A medical conference and exhibition dubbed West African health 2009 has been slated for September this year in Nigeria.

The exhibition, which is on the theme “Re-engineering healthcare services in West Africa,” will take place in Lagos from September 16-18, 2009. The event will also feature the 4th NHIS stakeholders’ forum.

The exhibition is expected to bring together healthcare manufacturers, wholesalers, Healthcare Providers, Hmos, Healthcare regulators, Banks, insurance companies, Government Agencies and other Stakeholders.

Global Resources & Projects Nigeria Limited, the organizers of the conference and Exhibition said the exhibition will offer an ideal environment for Companies, Ngo’s and Donor agencies to showcase their products and Services in one of the fastest growing and most lucrative healthcare markets in Africa. Ginosko healthcare centre (Ghana) is the local organizer of the conference in Ghana.

Unveiled in 2006, as the first ever health business event, will also position the sub region on the path of sustainable health business benefits as well as attract the attention needed to purge the sub region of challenging health issues that have drawn it back in terms of development.

The Chief Executive officer of Global Resources & Project, Dr. Wale Alabi noted that the West African Health expo which has grown substantially over the last few years has created easy entry for new entrants into the West Africa health market and provided alternatives services and products for Healthcare Providers.


Alabi said the 2009 edition which is also the 4th edition, will build a reputation as the number one health-to-business events in the west African Health sector and will provide the platform for stakeholders in the Healthcare industry to address pertinent issues affecting healthcare delivery in the Subcontinent.

Last year the conference played host to over 7,800 visitors from across
Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, United state, Europe, Asia and the Middle East with over 40 speakers and 147 local and international exhibitors.

The Conference plays a key facilitating role in the introduction of new trends and technology in healthcare. It helps to bring healthcare professionals, stakeholders, leading international manufacturers and suppliers together to address issues pertaining to healthcare development in the West African region

This year will again bring together stakeholders from the entire medical and health chain to engage in discussions on the way forward for health particularly its role in the resuscitation of the global economy.

West African Health 2009 will no doubt, be another milestone event that will provide innovative solutions for healthcare development in West.

Topics to be delivered at the exhibition includes; Community Health
Insurance as a panacea to quality healthcare delivery in Nigeria, The role of Health Insurance as a toll in achieving universal affordable healthcare among others.

The 3-day event is being supported by Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Medical Laboratory Association of Nigeria (MLAN), Commonwealth Medical Association(CMA), Health & Managed Care Association of Nigeria (HMCAN), Health Care Providers Association of Nigeria (HCPAN), Federal Ministries of Health in the sub-region, United States Commercial Service, International Society of Urban Health (New York) etc, with the African Healthcare Journal being the official supporting publication.
