The data also showed a sharp increase in transaction volumes, with the number of mobile money transactions rising to 899 million in February 2026, compared to 698 million transactions in the corresponding period last year.

Growth in the sector was further reflected in the expansion of mobile money agent networks across the country. The number of registered mobile money agents increased to 976,000 in February 2026 from 896,000 a year earlier.

Similarly, active agents rose to 515,000, up from 411,000 during the same period in 2025, highlighting the continued deepening of digital financial services in Ghana.

The report also indicated that the balance of float, which represents the total funds held in mobile money accounts by service providers, climbed to GH₵33.9 billion by February 2026, compared to GH₵27.9 billion in February 2025.

Meanwhile, mobile money interoperability transactions—which enable transfers between different mobile money networks and bank accounts—also recorded strong growth. The value of these transactions increased to GH₵4.9 billion, up from GH₵2.9 billion in the same period last year.

In terms of volume, interoperability transactions rose to 27.2 million, compared to 19.7 million transactions recorded in February 2025.

The continued growth underscores the increasing role of mobile money as a key driver of financial inclusion and digital payments in Ghana.
