21 Days of Y'ello Care: MTN Staff Showcase Commitment to Community Engagement

 MTN staff have demonstrated their commitment to community engagement and social responsibility by volunteering to sew school 500 school uniforms for distribution to deprived communities in the Central Region.

As part of MTN's 21-day Yellow Care initiative, staff members from Accra and Kumasi came together to support students and patrons of the Opportunities Industrialization Centre to sew the school uniforms.

This hands-on approach ensures quality and attention to detail while providing an opportunity for staff to develop new skills and build relationships with community members.

Ebenezer Terkpeh, Education Portfolio Advisor at MTN, emphasized the importance of staff involvement in these activities, stating, "By volunteering to sew, iron, and fix buttons on the uniforms, our staff are demonstrating their commitment to making a positive impact in the community. We're not just giving; we're also learning and gaining valuable experience."

The initiative aims to empower communities through skills development and education, promoting digital literacy and entrepreneurship. The uniforms will be donated to private schools in the Central Region, supporting students in need.

This initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the communities, providing essential support and promoting education as a key driver of social mobility. By empowering young people with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed, MTN is helping to build a brighter future for the community.

As part of the 21 Days of Y'ello Care, a series of grassroots projects have been outline that staff will implement during the 2025 Y’ello Care campaign.

In addition to sewing school uniforms for children in need, MTN staff will also install computers in schools and community centers, and assist in the construction of shelters for vulnerable women.

Staff will also educate community members on MTN’s digital products and services, offer farming and technology education in rural areas, and support land preparation, weeding, and beautification activities.

Additionally, the initiative will involve installing smart agricultural technology in the Northern Region and register residents on platforms like the mPharma health app while providing hands-on digital literacy training.

As 21 Days of Y’ello Care marks its 18th year, MTN Ghana continues to set the benchmark for corporate volunteerism—demonstrating that when purpose meets action, real transformation follows.
