DriveEVGh launches EV Showroom to accelerate Ghana’s green transport revolution

DriveEVGh has officially opened its new electric vehicle (EV) showroom at Burma Hills, off the Mahama Road, in a bold move to advance the adoption of sustainable transportation in Ghana.

The launch marks a significant milestone in the company’s mission to promote green mobility and reduce carbon emissions in the country. The showroom will serve as a hub for showcasing electric vehicle models and educating the public on the environmental and economic benefits of EVs.

Speaking to Joy Business at the launch event, Chief Executive of DriveEVGh, Ashie Galloway, emphasized the importance of collaboration in driving EV adoption.

According to him, "green mobility saves carbons in the air and makes the world a better place. And it's not all about climate, it's all about savings. The cost of using an electric vehicle is about 70% less than if you use a normal car."

He urged government to take a cue from countries that have successfully mainstreamed electric vehicles through supportive policies and infrastructure.

As you see in other jurisdictions, some governments are doing this kind of thing. We have an advocacy group that we're working with government to try and see what solutions we can come up with,” Galloway said.

He also encouraged the Ghanaian public to embrace electric mobility as a viable and eco-friendly alternative to traditional fuel-powered vehicles. According to him, doing so is a vital step towards achieving a cleaner and healthier environment.

It's a good place to be right now. I enjoy this lifestyle and I'm hoping more people come to this side of things," he stated.

Guests and patrons at the event shared their excitement about the growing presence of EV options in Ghana. Many expressed optimism that the country is gradually catching up with the global push toward green technology in transportation.

The newly launched showroom stands as a symbol of progress for Ghana’s EV sector, offering both awareness and accessibility. With industry stakeholders increasingly backing sustainable transport, DriveEVGh’s initiative is expected to spark broader interest and investment in electric mobility nationwide.
