Air Côte d’Ivoire receives first Rolls-Royce powered Airbus A330neo

Air Côte d’Ivoire has taken delivery of its first widebody aircraft, an Airbus A330neo powered exclusively by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines — marking a strategic step in expanding its long-haul capabilities.

The aircraft departed Airbus’ facility in Toulouse and touched down at Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport in Abidjan on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 17:30 UTC.

Omar Ali Adib, Senior Vice President, Customers at Rolls-Royce, described the delivery as a landmark for both the airline and the region.

“We are proud to power Air Côte d’Ivoire’s first widebody aircraft with our Trent 7000 engines. This is a significant milestone for both the airline and the region, as it expands connectivity and supports the growth of long-haul travel across West Africa.”

He added that: ”The Trent 7000 combines proven reliability with the latest efficiency and durability enhancements, ensuring Air Côte d’Ivoire can operate with confidence, efficiency, and sustainability from day one. We welcome this delivery and our new Rolls-Royce customer in Africa.”

The Trent 7000 is the latest addition to the successful Trent engine family, which has logged more than 200 million flying hours since its debut three decades ago.

Delivering between 68,000 and 72,000 pounds of thrust, the engine is designed to cut fuel burn by 14% per seat and operate 6 decibels quieter than its predecessor, the Trent 700.

For Air Côte d’Ivoire, the A330neo opens new opportunities to strengthen its intercontinental offering while reinforcing Abidjan’s ambition to become a key aviation hub for West Africa.
