Prudential Bank Partners with GAUS for Prostate Cancer Screening in Kumasi

Prudential Bank, a leading indigenous bank, has partnered with the Ghana Association of Urological Surgeons (GAUS) to conduct a prostate cancer screening for over 130 men in Kumasi last week.

The one-day mobile clinic, managed by Urologists from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, was set up at the bank's Aboabo branch in Kumasi, Ashanti Region.

The initiative aimed to educate the community on the importance of regular checks for early detection of the disease.

Head of Public Relations at Prudential Bank, Bennet Frimpong, stated that the campaign supports global efforts to raise awareness about prostate cancer in September.

Early detection saves lives. We consider it crucial to support the global charge to prevent avoidable deaths," he said.

The exercise aligns with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and is part of Prudential Bank's corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

President of GAUS, Dr. Kwaku Addai Arhin Appiah, said the screening helped create awareness about prostate cancer in the community. "We hope to continue this collaboration to reach many more people with the message that early detection of prostate cancer saves lives."

This screening is part of a larger campaign by Prudential Bank to raise awareness about prostate cancer, provide medical support through screenings, and offer sponsorships to deepen understanding of the disease.

Prostate cancer is a significant global health concern, with over 1.4 million new cases diagnosed annually (WHO). In Ghana, many cases are diagnosed at advanced stages, highlighting the need for early detection and awareness.

Through initiatives like this, Prudential Bank demonstrates its commitment to promoting health and wellness among men in Ghana.
