In a world where stigma and fear often surround HIV/AIDS, one woman is determined to make a difference.
Linda Donkor, a dedicated HIV advocate and data manager, has been making waves in Ghana with her tireless efforts to create awareness about HIV/AIDS and support those living with the virus. As a nominee for the MTN Heroes of Change program, Linda's work is a testament to the impact one person can have on their community.
I’m motivated by the simple desire to see people thrive," Linda said. "The stigma surrounding HIV is immense, and it keeps many people away from essential healthcare." Through her NGO, Auntie Linda Foundation, Linda has been working to educate people about HIV/AIDS, empower women living with HIV, support children living with the virus, and provide outreach programs in prisons.

I’ve connected with thousands of people, many of whom have sought testing and treatment as a direct result of my advocacy," Linda said.
"I’ve personally assisted countless individuals in accessing medication, even going so far as to pick up prescriptions for them." Her work has not gone unnoticed, with several awards already under her belt, including the Leadership in Healthcare award from Accra Business School and the Outstanding HIV Advocate of the Year award from Ghana Leadership Awards.
Despite facing financial challenges and limited resources, Linda remains committed to her mission. "I dream of acquiring land and building a facility to support vulnerable individuals, particularly children who have lost their parents to HIV," she said.
Community leader, Hon Charles Amos, praises Linda's dedication, saying, "She is indeed one of a kind. Her enthusiasm towards creating awareness about HIV and giving support to those living with it is overwhelming." A beneficiary of Linda's work also shared their story, saying, "Since our encounter with her, life is now bearable. She showers us with love and kind words and is always a call away any time we need her."
The MTN Heroes of Change program recognizes individuals like Linda who are making a difference in their communities. As Sandra Amponsah, an adolescent reproductive health advocate, notes, "Auntie Linda’s work truly deserves recognition. She addresses a stigmatized topic and encourages open dialogue, helping people living with HIV overcome fear and isolation."
With faith in her work and a passion for helping others, Linda Donkor continues to shine a light in the dark, inspiring others to join her in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
