The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has assured the public that it is closely monitoring the situation in the Middle East following recent developments that have raised concerns about the safety of the Black Queens, who are currently in the region preparing for an international tournament.
In response, GFA President Kurt Okraku met with the team to appeal for calm and reassure them of the Association’s full support.
He noted that within the past 24 to 48 hours, the GFA has engaged key stakeholders to determine the appropriate course of action. These include Ghana’s mission in the United Arab Emirates, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Association’s security advisers.
Meanwhile, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, have both reached out to the team to express the nation’s support during this period.
The Black Queens have been in the United Arab Emirates for the past week as part of their preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
