The competition is the fifth in series organized by Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) but this is the first time that Toyota Ghana has joined the contest.

The contest was open to children of Toyota staff and customers aged 15 years and below from 64 countries and regions around the world.

The MD of Toyota Ghana, Takahiko Takabayashi, hinted next year, the competition would be opened to all children within the country to provide equal opportunity for them.

The contest, held since 2004, aims to create an opportunity for children through drawing pictures of their “dream cars” under the theme "Your Dream-The Car of the Future" to develop their interest in cars and further understand the joy and importance of having a dream. Between the first contest in 2004 and the fourth in 2008, TMC received approximately 60,000 entries.

This year’s contest had a territorial scope that has been expanded from Asia to include North, Central, and South America; Europe; Africa; Oceania and the Middle East. Winning entries in each National Contest has been submitted to the world contest to be held in Japan in May 2011, with bronze, silver, and gold prize winners, as well as other works of distinction, being selected.

In addition, Akira Toriyama, the world-renowned creator of the Dragon Ball anime series, and TMC President Akio Toyoda will select entries as winners of the Akira Toriyama Prize and President Toyoda Prize from among the bronze, silver, and gold prize-winning entries. Prize winners will be invited to attend an award ceremony to be held in August 2011 at TMC headquarters in Japan.
