Ghana's New UN Ambassador Pledges Commitment to Multilateralism and Peace

 


Ghana's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Samuel Yao Kumah, has formally presented his Letters of Credence to UN Secretary-General António Guterres, reaffirming Ghana's commitment to multilateralism and the principles of the UN Charter.

During the ceremony held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, Ambassador Kumah conveyed fraternal greetings from President John Dramani Mahama, emphasizing Ghana's readiness to collaborate with the UN and its Member States to advance international peace and security, sustainable development, and human rights.

Ghana is unwavering in its commitment to multilateralism and the principles enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations," Ambassador Kumah stated, highlighting the country's dedication to promoting global cooperation and addressing complex challenges.

In response, Secretary-General Guterres praised Ghana as a "steadfast partner of the United Nations and a pillar of multilateralism," commending the country's democratic credentials, good governance, and leadership in addressing regional challenges in West Africa and the Sahel.

The Secretary-General expressed confidence that Ambassador Kumah's tenure would further deepen Ghana's partnership with the UN, citing the country's active role in promoting international peace and security, and sustainable development. He assured Ghana of the UN's continued support for these efforts and welcomed Ambassador Kumah to New York.

The meeting underscores Ghana's status as a key member of the United Nations, with the Secretary-General expressing optimism that Ambassador Kumah would represent Ghana's interests with distinction and serve as a strong advocate for the African continent.

Ambassador Kumah's presentation marks a significant milestone in Ghana's diplomatic efforts, reinforcing the country's commitment to global cooperation and multilateralism.
