Finance Minister to explain measures for ensuring expenditure discipline

The Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta will this week provide the details of measures for tackling the challenges facing the economy.

This will be after he has held consultations with key social and economic stakeholders, following a Cabinet decision on some new measures including cuts that are to affect all the 16 major government flagship programmes as well as other areas of the economy.

At a Cabinet quarterly retreat for 2022 between March 17 and 20, 2022 at the Peduase Lodge in Aburi, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo "approved a number of far-reaching measures aimed at mitigating the depreciation of the Cedi, ensuring expenditure discipline, and providing relief in the face of global fuel price hikes and inflation as well as ensuring that priority programmes meant to grow the economy are protected."
