WIPVaC Donates Eggs and Sanitary Products to Prisons, Health Facilities and Orphanages to Mark International Women’s Day
The Women in Poultry Value Chain (WIPVaC), the apex body of resenting women in Ghana’s poultry sector, has donated crates of eggs and sanitary products to several institutions across the country as part of activities to commemorate International Women’s Day.
The donations were made to institutions including Echoing Hills Village in Accra, the Ga West Municipal Hospital, the Volta Female Prisons in Ho, and the Ankaful Prisons near Takoradi, among others.
According to the Greater Accra Regional President of WIPVaC, Florence Duku, the gesture forms part of the organization’s annual social responsibility initiative aimed at supporting vulnerable groups and institutions while also promoting the nutritional benefits of eggs.
She explained that WIPVaC has consistently supported various institutions across the country each year, and this year the organization decided to extend its support to Echoing Hills Village, which provides care for vulnerable children and individuals with special needs.
We believe in giving back to society, and as women in the poultry value chain, eggs are one of the most nutritious foods we can share with communities. Through this donation, we hope to support the health and wellbeing of the beneficiaries,” she said.
Duku added that the inclusion of sanitary products in the donations was also meant to support the hygiene and dignity of women and girls in the beneficiary institutions.
Receiving the items on behalf of Echoing Hills Village, the Administrator, Rev. William Okyere, expressed appreciation to WIPVaC for the kind gesture and for remembering the needs of vulnerable groups.
He commended the organization for its consistent efforts to support institutions through such donations, noting that the items would go a long way to support the residents of the facility.
We are very grateful to WIPVaC for this thoughtful donation. Eggs are very nutritious and will greatly support the feeding programme for our residents,” Rev. Okyere said.
As part of the initiative, WIPVaC also distributed eggs and sanitary products to the Ga West Municipal Hospital, the Ankaful Prisons, and the Ho Female Prisons in the Volta Region.
The organization noted that the donation is part of its broader commitment to community support, women empowerment and the promotion of poultry products as an affordable source of protein for households across the country.
The donation formed part of activities marking this year’s International Women’s Day celebration, which highlights the contributions of women to national development and community wellbeing.
