World-class forest amusement park ‘We-Ape’ opens in Aburi

Ghana’s eco-tourism and adventure industry has received a significant boost with the official launch of We-Ape Mega Zipline and Adventure Park, a world-class forest amusement park located in Aburi in the Eastern Region.

Touted as one of the most exhilarating outdoor destinations in the country, the park is poised to attract adventure seekers, families, corporate groups, and educational institutions.

Spanning 3.5 acres of untouched rainforest, We-Ape offers a range of adrenaline-pumping activities including two obstacle courses—a Family Course designed for both children and adults, and a more intense Fitness Course for patrons seeking a physically engaging challenge.

Features include canopy walks, cable bikes, net obstacles, and high-speed ziplines set against stunning forest backdrops.

The park also includes modern facilities such as a café, conference rooms, and a large activity field—making it an ideal location for offsite corporate retreats, team-building events, workshops, and training programs.

As part of its broader mission, We-Ape has launched an environmental experiential learning programme aimed at schools, integrating outdoor education with sustainability principles.

The programme leverages the park’s rich biodiversity to instill environmental responsibility among students.

At the ribbon-cutting ceremony held on May 6, local government officials and tourism stakeholders gathered to celebrate the park’s opening.

Speaking at the launch, Executive Director of We-Ape, William Adzraku, stated:

“We-Ape has been a passion project years in the making. We are thrilled to introduce something new, something truly world-class, and something very different from anything else available in Ghana.”

Guest of Honour, Emma Wenani, Managing Director of Global Media Alliance Ghana, highlighted the relevance of such nature-centric spaces in today’s urbanized world:

In a world that is rapidly urbanizing and digitizing, spaces like We-Ape become increasingly vital. They remind us of the beauty of the natural world, they provide an escape from the noise of our daily life, and most importantly, they offer opportunities for learning, recreation, and conservation. I am honored to be part of the launch today and look forward to exploring more at We-Ape. This is not just an experience, it is a movement.”
Echoing the park’s educational vision, Dr. Jones Quartey, a lecturer at the University of Ghana, noted:

“The rich naturally occurring elements on We-Ape’s forest park, plus the investment in education facilities, will enable the experiential learning program to make a great impact on students that benefit from it.”
With a strong focus on sustainability, education, and wellness tourism, We-Ape positions itself as more than just an amusement park—it’s a lifestyle destination merging nature, adventure, and learning.

E&P takes over Black Volta and Sankofa Gold projects after years of delay

Indigenous mining firm Engineers & Planners (E&P) has acquired Azumah Resources Ghana Ltd and Upwest Resources Ghana Ltd, taking full control of the long-stalled Black Volta and Sankofa gold concessions in the Upper West Region. The transaction, registered with the Registrar of Companies and approved by the Minerals Commission, ends nearly two decades of under-investment, legal disputes, and capital shortfalls that kept the concessions dormant. With global gold prices trading above $3,000 per ounce, the move comes at a time when Ghana is seeking fresh mining revenue to support its IMF-backed fiscal consolidation programme. E&P announced that it has secured funding to begin mine development and has committed to repaying verified debts associated with the projects.
