LADMA To Launch A Long Term Development Plan Next Week

The La Dadekotopon Municipal Assembly (LADMA) will on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, unveil its landmark Long Term Development Plan at a high-level event at the Labadi Beach Hotel, aimed at charting a bold new path for inclusive development, urban renewal, and improved service delivery within the municipality.

The plan, which is built around the theme “Shaping Our Destiny: A Roadmap for Transformation and Prosperity,” outlines a strategic long-term vision to transform LADMA into a thriving, sustainable, and digitally efficient municipality that works for all residents.

According to Assembly officials, the plan reflects the Assembly’s commitment to delivering citizen-focused development through targeted improvements in education, healthcare, sanitation, infrastructure, economic empowerment, and environmental protection.

Access to quality education and healthcare sits at the heart of the plan. LADMA intends to upgrade school facilities, expand teacher support, and improve health infrastructure and access — particularly at the community level. This, the Assembly believes, is key to building a more equitable and healthy population.

Economic growth is another central pillar. Through expanded support for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the plan aims to boost local entrepreneurship, create jobs, and stimulate innovation among the municipality’s growing youth population. The Assembly is also committing to targeted interventions for vulnerable groups — including persons with disabilities, the elderly, and low-income households — to ensure that development leaves no one behind.

The plan also tackles La’s long-standing environmental and sanitation challenges. With flooding, waste management, and climate resilience high on the agenda, the Assembly will invest in sustainable drainage, cleaner waste systems, and broader environmental conservation programs.

Significantly, the plan places digital transformation at its core. LADMA aims to digitize 70% of its service delivery within the decade, easing public engagement with the Assembly and improving data and resource management. It also prioritizes staff capacity-building to support this transition.

Cultural heritage will be preserved and leveraged for tourism and civic pride, with investments in historical sites, traditional events, and creative arts. All of these efforts will be guided by a robust implementation framework that includes performance indicators, risk mitigation plans, funding strategies, legal compliance measures, and strong stakeholder engagement.

Expected results include the creation of over 5,000 jobs, improved infrastructure, better access to essential services, and a more modern and efficient governance system.

The plan will be officially launched at a special event that also features the unveiling of LADMA’s new brand identity. The programme begins at 1:00 PM prompt, with guests expected to be seated by 12.45pm. Ministers,Diplomats, Development Partners, Traditional Leaders, and Private Sector Players are expected to attend.

This plan is our bold step into the future",said the Municipal Chief Executive, Alfredos Nii Anyetei. "It is not just about fixing today`s problems -it is about laying the foundation for a stronger, smarter, and more united La for generations to come " he emphasised..

Fitch Solutions retains 2025 growth rate projection at 4.2%

Fitch Solutions has reaffirmed its projection that Ghana’s economy will expand by 4.2% in 2025. This estimate slightly exceeds the International Monetary Fund’s forecast of 4% and the World Bank’s projection of 3.9%. The UK-based research firm attributes its outlook to historically high gold prices, which are expected to cushion the Ghanaian economy against a global slowdown triggered by rising tariffs. Higher gold prices are anticipated to strengthen government revenue, enhance foreign exchange earnings, and help sustain currency stability. The report also highlights that Ghana is relatively less vulnerable to increasing trade restrictions from the United States, given that its primary exports—gold and crude oil—are not directly affected by the tariffs introduced by President Trump’s administration. Moreover, the US constitutes only about 4% to 5% of Ghana’s total exports. In contrast, Ghana’s trade relations are more heavily oriented toward China and European countries, particul...

BoG injects $20m into FX market to support 11 BDCs

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has injected $20 million into the foreign exchange market in the latest round of its forward FX auction targeted at Bulk Oil Distribution Companies (BDCs). The intervention, which benefited eleven BDCs, is part of the central bank’s broader strategy to stabilise the cedi and ensure price stability in the petroleum downstream sector. Held on Tuesday, April 29, the auction was priced at a locked exchange rate of GHS 14.28 to the US dollar, with bid offers ranging from GHS 13.85 to GHS 15.55. This move reflects the BoG’s continued effort to deepen forex liquidity and safeguard the domestic fuel supply chain against volatility in global energy markets. By directly supplying FX to BDCs, the central bank seeks to ease pressure on the interbank market, guarantee the uninterrupted flow of petroleum products, and mitigate the pass-through effects of exchange rate fluctuations on fuel prices. The $20 million disbursement forms part of a $120 million programme for th...
