Prudential Bank clears bills for children at Tema General Hospital

Prudential Bank LTD turned Mother’ Day celebration into a lasting act of kindness, by clearing the bills of patients at the Children’s Ward of the Tema General Hospital.

Speaking to the press, Head of Human Resources, Lilian Antwiwaa Asante, said the visit was inspired by the nurturing spirit associated with motherhood as well as the need to celebrate women.

As a Bank, this initiative resonates deeply with us. Beyond the donation itself, we intentionally involved several staff in the presentation to demonstrate a platform where they could connect personally with the experience, interact with the children and find their own meaning in giving back,” she said.

Asante noted that Mother’s Day often highlights the quiet sacrifices of mothers whose children are hospitalized. “On the hearts of every woman is the longing for the child. We chose this hospital, this ward, because we wanted to ease that burden. From this visit, we have all seen that giving back is not a nice thing to do, it is a need”, she added.

Also speaking at the event, Unit Head of Public Relations at the Bank, Bennet Frimpong, explained that the Bank deliberately aligned the donation with Mothers’ Day to amplify a message of compassion.

Giving back as a corporate institution is more than just brand visibility or a cheque handover. It is about creating genuine human connections and responding to real community needs. As a brand, this Mother’s Day served as an opportunity for Prudential Bank to connect to real emotions and real lives, by supporting families in a space where care and compassion matter the most” he said.

Receiving the items, the Medical Director of the Tema General Hospital, Dr. Ralph Armah, expressed appreciation to the Bank for the thoughtful gesture, particularly for focusing on the Children’s Ward, which he noted often receives less attention.

Your presence here today goes beyond the donation. It brings encouragement to both the children and health workers, while also helping to ease the pressure on the facility through the support provided to patients and families. Acts like these remind people that institutions still care,” he stated.

The event ended with staff interacting with children and parents at the ward, creating moments of encouragement and shared reflection. This gesture, which also included branded gifts for the children, was framed under the Bank’s broader efforts to honour mothers who spent the season at their children’s bedsides.
