MTN@30 rewards everyday customers with Prados at Kejetia

A businesswoman, a farmer and an engineer drove home brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser Prados, as MTN Ghana’s MTN@30 reward promotion took its biggest prizes to Kejetia.

None of them did anything extraordinary to win. They simply kept calling, browsing and transacting on MTN.

The winners – Faustina Asante, Mahama Wasila and Alidu Tanko – received their keys at a colourful prize presentation at Kejetia in Kumasi on September 16, 2026, held as part of MTN Ghana’s 30th anniversary celebrations. They join a growing list of customers being rewarded under the three-month promotion for their continued trust in MTN.

There was no registration, no short code and no extra step required. Customers earned points automatically from everyday activity – calls, data and Mobile Money transactions – and every point was a chance to win.

Speaking at the presentation, Sandra Oduro Antwi, Senior Manager, Consumer Marketing at MTN Ghana, said the promotion is the company’s way of saying thank you to the customers who have walked its 30-year journey.

This milestone belongs not to MTN alone, but to the more than 32 million Ghanaians who have made MTN part of their lives,” she said.

In all, the promotion will reward up to 30,000 customers with prizes ranging from brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser Prados to cash of up to GH¢30,000. Nine vehicles will be given away in total – three at each of the three presentation events.

MTN@30, Kejetia

Accra hosted the first presentation. Kejetia was the second. The final one follows in the coming weeks.

The Senior Specialist, Mass Segment at MTN Ghana, Samuel Arthur, said MTN@30 is a gesture of gratitude for the support Ghanaians have given the brand since it began operations in the country.

He added that independent auditing firm KPMG reviews and verifies the promotion data at every stage, guaranteeing transparency, fairness and integrity in how winners emerge.

For Mahama Wasila, a farmer from the Northern Region, the win was a complete surprise. She had simply kept buying data and airtime and moving money on her phone, never imagining that such ordinary habits could put her behind the wheel of a Prado.

I never imagined that I could win something like this, but by God’s grace, I have won this,” she said.

Faustina Asante expressed her gratitude and excitement after winning the prado. She said she came across the information about the MTN@30 promo on Tik Tok, did most of her business transactions through MoMo and purchased a significant amount of data bundles for her loved ones.

She urged other customers to take part in future promotions and to stay hopeful, noting that genuine opportunities can change a life overnight.

The MTN@30 promotion is part of activities marking the company’s 30th anniversary under the theme “30 Years of Progress, Powered by You” – a theme that credits the customers, employees, partners and stakeholders whose loyalty and partnership have shaped MTN Ghana’s journey over three decades.

Fitch Solutions retains 2025 growth rate projection at 4.2%

Fitch Solutions has reaffirmed its projection that Ghana’s economy will expand by 4.2% in 2025. This estimate slightly exceeds the International Monetary Fund’s forecast of 4% and the World Bank’s projection of 3.9%. The UK-based research firm attributes its outlook to historically high gold prices, which are expected to cushion the Ghanaian economy against a global slowdown triggered by rising tariffs. Higher gold prices are anticipated to strengthen government revenue, enhance foreign exchange earnings, and help sustain currency stability. The report also highlights that Ghana is relatively less vulnerable to increasing trade restrictions from the United States, given that its primary exports—gold and crude oil—are not directly affected by the tariffs introduced by President Trump’s administration. Moreover, the US constitutes only about 4% to 5% of Ghana’s total exports. In contrast, Ghana’s trade relations are more heavily oriented toward China and European countries, particul...

BoG injects $20m into FX market to support 11 BDCs

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has injected $20 million into the foreign exchange market in the latest round of its forward FX auction targeted at Bulk Oil Distribution Companies (BDCs). The intervention, which benefited eleven BDCs, is part of the central bank’s broader strategy to stabilise the cedi and ensure price stability in the petroleum downstream sector. Held on Tuesday, April 29, the auction was priced at a locked exchange rate of GHS 14.28 to the US dollar, with bid offers ranging from GHS 13.85 to GHS 15.55. This move reflects the BoG’s continued effort to deepen forex liquidity and safeguard the domestic fuel supply chain against volatility in global energy markets. By directly supplying FX to BDCs, the central bank seeks to ease pressure on the interbank market, guarantee the uninterrupted flow of petroleum products, and mitigate the pass-through effects of exchange rate fluctuations on fuel prices. The $20 million disbursement forms part of a $120 million programme for th...
