MTN Masterclass Equips Entrepreneurs with Digital Skills to Transform Businesses

MTN Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering entrepreneurs with practical knowledge and skills to strengthen their businesses through its MTN Masterclass programme.

General Manager for Consumer Marketing at MTN Ghana, Nana Asantewaa Amegashie, said the programme provides customers with hands-on learning opportunities and access to experienced professionals to help them navigate the evolving business environment.

She explained that MTN’s role as a technology company extends beyond telecommunications and digital services to creating opportunities for customers to build their capacity and improve their livelihoods.

The MTN Masterclass is one of the programmes we have for our customers. It is designed to give them opportunities to learn, hands-on, how they can run their businesses and improve the way they do business in Ghana,” she said.

MTN, Digital SkillsAccording to her, the programme brings together experts from different fields to share practical insights and tools that entrepreneurs can apply to their businesses.

Ultimately, we want to improve people's lives and, in particular, their businesses. A lot of entrepreneurs are here, so we want to give them the tools they need to help their businesses grow,” she added.

During a panel discussion, Isaac Kofi Maafo, CEO of Digitransact AI and Executive of BulkSM Ghana, identified expertise, visibility, trust, relationships and consistency as key pillars for building meaningful influence and credibility in the digital space.

He urged professionals and entrepreneurs to establish expertise in their respective fields while actively using digital platforms to showcase their knowledge and engage with their audiences.

People also need to trust what you are putting out there. If you share information that is inaccurate or misleading, people will begin to distrust you,” he said.

Maafo also stressed the importance of building relationships through meaningful engagement, including responding to questions, participating in conversations and commenting on other people's content.

He cautioned against inconsistent digital engagement, noting that professionals who want to build influence must remain active and consistent in their efforts.

Gideon Asare, Chief Executive Officer of Adanse Travels and Founder of Africon AI, highlighted the importance of partnerships and digital platforms in helping businesses expand beyond their immediate markets.

Reflecting on his experience, Asare said an investment in a Facebook advertisement in 2015 helped his business attract a customer from Accra who had never visited its office.

He said the experience changed his perception of the digital economy and demonstrated how digital platforms could enable businesses to reach customers beyond their physical locations.

The digital economy is about not thinking of your business as being limited to the vicinity where you operate. Instead, you should look for partnerships and platforms that can elevate your business internationally or globally,” he said.

He advised entrepreneurs against trying to build every system from scratch, urging them instead to identify existing networks, platforms and strategic partners that could help them expand their reach.

Asare further encouraged businesses to carefully assess potential partners based on the market access, audience and opportunities they could provide.

Rachael Tachie-Menson, Founder of Author Digital Labs, said the growing influence of artificial intelligence was shifting the focus of the digital economy from knowledge to value creation.

She explained that major technological changes tend to make previously scarce resources more widely available, with AI now making cognitive abilities and intelligence increasingly accessible.

According to her, entrepreneurs should focus less on what technology might replace and more on what new possibilities it could create.

The biggest opportunity here is to think about what becomes possible rather than what we lose,” she said.

Tachie-Menson urged professionals and businesses to adapt to the changing environment by exploring how AI and other digital tools could help them create new value and pursue opportunities that were previously difficult or impossible to achieve.

The MasterClass attracted more than 120 participants in person, with additional entrepreneurs joining the programme through various digital channels.
